Cloths painted and varnished, rugs or runners were among the first floor coverings in North America. The style originated in France again Century 14, where painted cloths were used as wall hangings and table covers. On the 18th floor cloths century were brought to North America by the British. To invention of linoleum, floor cloths were very popular for the poor to the very rich.
Today, Cloths are mostly used as art. It is a decorative and creative art form most commonly associated with Arts and Crafts. Whether you will put down or the screen on the wall and a piece of art, collage, floor mats are very durable and resistant. They are easy to clean, just wipe with a sponge, or a simple soap and water mixture will, too.
In the past, people were intended to inhale the fumes terribly caustic paint and varnish. These caustic materials are the only way to achieve longevity. Today things are different. Already not need to have oil-based products, water soluble paint and varnishes are fast drying, easy application and cleaning, and just as durable.
What is needed: medium to heavy weight fabric, plaster, a variety of brushing, fabric paints, sponges, stencils, bottles, rags, acrylic varnish Soluvar.
First, you will need to gesso the canvas. Gesso is an acrylic primer, which protect the fibers of the fabric and create a good apply. In Secondly, you have to stretch the canvas. If you are not familiar with this process, there are several websites with easy to follow instructions. Allow for stretching fabric easier application of paint. When choosing paint, it is best to choose real fabric paint. Otherwise, cracks may be dealing with problems of drying time and that light could not be fasting. Personally I like to use Liquitex, but your opinion may differ so do some tests to find the best suited for you. There are many different possibilities for creativity in your floor cloth. On a cloth single plant can have many different techniques, such as watercolor, airbrushing, printing, block printing, templates, hazing and sponge, silkscreen, collage and faux finishing. Anything goes, the only limits are your own.
Once that cloth has been painted and dried, it's time to glaze. This will protect your artwork and allow walked on if necessary. Once again I Liquitex varnish. We present matt and brightness depending on its desired effect. 3.5 Apply layers. Two important notes, 1-no more-the work of the area, this could lead to texture and opacity in the glaze, and two, not being actively implemented, which can cause bubbles to form and dry in their work. The varnish can be applied with brushes, pads or sprays. For a look more years of age, add some raw umber to paint. For a look of folk art add white wash on the final coat of paint before painting.
Soluvar is durable, non-yellowing varnish that is very important for a piece near a heat source or in high traffic areas. A layer of Soluvar prevent a sticky feeling of the fabric. Over time, the cloth may need cleaning, you can remove with soap and water Soluvar then reapply for a new look. This process does not affect the original piece. If the floor is in a wet cloth, remember to cover both sides of the canvas with varnish.
This information can also be applied to the umbrella, lawn chair outdoor canvas covers, cushion covers, table mats corridors, stairways and corridors of room dividers.
