Many wore Japanese kimonos in ancient Japan. Kimono styles have changed over time as with any fashion, but the modern kimono still has a resemblance to those of ancient Japan. The choice of material, cut, color and decorative design of a kimono are different depending on many variables.

Since the beginning of Japanese history until today, the kimono has been an integral part of the Japanese, adaptation to changing lifestyles and trends. Weaving and dyeing skills and the ability of various raw materials have improved over time allowing the kimono to improve in quality and design. Displays of traditional clothing and paper important in Japan and even today, the imperial family should wear clothes as far as the Nara period during special rituals and ceremonies.

Men's Japan wore kimonos old white, black, brown, blue and gray tones, which tended to be more conservative in design than those used by women. Around of waste from a narrow belt knotted at the back was used. This was known as Obi. In summer, it's very hot and humid in Japan, using a yukata that resembles a kimono, except it is a much lighter material and is usually white or blue. Floral patterns and bright colors tend to be popular among women who wear kimonos. In the arts martial movies that can see Japanese men wearing a Hakama or pleated pants on her kimono. The husband may decide to use a Haori, a type of jacket, with its hakama and kimono. Braided material tied in a knot luxury Haori keeps closed.

A young woman still unmarried Furisode is wearing a bright kimono flowing around ankles. Married women may opt to use a similar style but with short sleeves. The Obi is striking and can often be as much as 30 centimeters wide and 4 feet long, taking up an entire hour to tie properly. At a wedding of a bride usually wear a white kimono with a red or orange outer kimono. The bright patterns and prints have traditionally been used by children and rarely in adults.

Though kimonos are not as common as they were in ancient Japan can still be seen often in some Japanese holidays. A special technique is used to produce these kimonos. The fabric is at least 14 feet long and up to 40 cm wide and cut into eight pieces and then sewn to avoid creating any waste. Many of the materials and methods of embroidery originated in China.

Japan is no longer the only country kimonos as enthusiastic about the fashion trend extends worldwide. It is easy to adapt the use with a skirt or pants. One can buy Japanese fabrics and have them made in dresses, shirts, kimonos and progress.
