The New American Lunch Box, a Japanese tradition
Take a minute to reflect ... Remember when you were a kid? Now, try to conjure up that childhood specific memory - your lunchbox wonderful! You were cool and fun, and I felt sure this new brand sports pieces of equipment. This table and what is often translated full of who you were. It was his first introduction independently in society. After all, not his own lunch box means that finally a big boy!
Boys often carried west or space themed lunch boxes, girls were with Barbie, and young children with a variety of Disney characters. All I remember that I was stuck taking the checkered design and the girl opposite, Cheryl Shelmadine had a lunchbox Lassie the Wonder Dog. I did not. What ideas were my parents? Regardless of style, lunches are represented and reflected, an important part of the cultural history of America.
Fortunately for our children, we live in a dynamic area. We can access the wonderful traditions of many cultures. Once incorporated into our food fresh area and shifted to presentation ... Zap! The new lunch box of America - the bento box.
Bento boxes came in Japan about 900 years ago with the creation of hoshi-ii. Hoshi-ii means "dry food" - is rice that has been cooked and then dried. Bento boxes were parties housing once simple containers individually packaged rice, meat or fish, and pickled or cooked vegetables. Over the centuries that have passed oak or lots of bamboo leaves wrapped in lacquered wooden boxes, polished aluminum, and plastics today.
There are competitions were held where people compete for prizes and prestige for the design of more elaborate bento boxes. This type of art is called kyaraben bento. They organize food aesthetically resemble people, flowers, plants and animals. Some are so beautiful that seem too good to eat ... well almost!
Of course, the bento boxes are still available today in many places throughout Japan, but the bento boxes is now taking America by storm! Traditional Japanese bento boxes are rapidly becoming an indispensable tool lunchbox brown paper packaging otherwise. A visit to today's school cafeterias could have some parents thinking that they have entered a new culture when they see these new modern lunch containers. It's not all about appearances, though - bento boxes are fun to fill, nice to the palette, avoiding foods to get smashed, and a lunch packaging cost and time effective.
Today's lunch boxes are most recently in personal style and expression. Although not carry a frequency for the sake of fashion. Whatever your taste, lunchboxes are still a reflection of American culture. The bento box is simply a plastic container of another home several animal-shaped containers for food. Sometimes stacked, square, round, flat, or whatever your desire. Designer bento boxes are available with popular cartoon characters and fun designs - hopefully not checked. You can even personalize your bento covered with fun to height, and miniature bottles no larger than the thumb of salad dressing, soy sauce or other flavoring of your choice.
I recently purchased a bento laptop for my daughter, Danielle. He arrived in a refrigerated case thermal resembles a laptop - and, of course, was almost the same price. This is a typical bento a "Middle Schooler," - not too flashy. Once opened, the case reveals space for all the different types candy. Each space has its own lid and fit like a puzzle. She definitely loves me!
Bento packaging
No matter how old my kids get, they still love to help pack their lunches with fun foods. When we go hunting for fun bento box frequenting the store dollar in the center of Japan in San Mateo. They have a variety of kid friendly lunch packing elements. One of my favorites are food molds. With no skills major artistic kitchen can shape food into simple animals, cars, trucks, trains, plants, or the forms of people. Try them with brown rice and vegetables for an Asian twist, tuna salad or chicken, eggs, or even make must-have-balls with them!
As the use of containers Japanese - Using fusion when packing. nouvelle California cuisine is a blend of cultures, using fresh local ingredients and fun presentation on new style any food classic. These tiny treasure chests are ideal for serving the leftovers in a fresh and new that will have your child eager to see food again last night. Remember to be creative and artistic when packing a bento and involve your child. Use cookie cutters to make a unique "sandwich" layer of food for submission, and include small containers of their favorite sauces. The better it looks and the entry of more than likely have to eat it!
Use these food parcels for fun and to merge some of their own cultural sensation in the breast. Here are some ideas to get you going. Incorporating a variety of foods your child enjoys will make them much less likely to succumb to hear "I'll trade!" In the cafeteria.
Mac 'N Cheese - Left on macaroni and cheese, fresh sliced tomatoes, steamed vegetables, and finger fresh fruit (grapes, strawberries, cherries, melon cubes, sliced kiwi, etc.) Van will be sure to devour this favorite son environment. All housed in separate containers or pressed into fun shapes.
Snack Attack - The finger cut fruits and vegetables, sliced cheese, turkey breast or ham cubes, and multi-grain crackers for a delicious blend of flavor and nutrition. Do not forget to add the cookies and your favorite vinaigrette in a bottle of pure fun, companies tighten bento.
Dinner lunch - Your favorite way meatballs, brown rice, sliced vegetables and low fat yogurt to dip. This bento is also great with spaghetti Spare!
Pot Roast personified - Diced leftover pot roast, roasted root vegetables, finger and a fresh fruit salad. Served cold with a piece of bread with butter grain pita.
Super Salads - Molding tuna, chicken, or seafood salad, whole grain crackers, fresh fruit and vegetables, and cheese, cute baby. Do not forget to add red pepper slices. Son very sweet to eat - especially with cream cheese dip them in.
Now with some experience behind my back I can bento honestly say that not only children love these clever containers - but I. They are also great for picnics, lunches, travel, or anytime you are away from home. They only make sense! A most important thing ... bento boxes require a little detergent after the box arrives home. This is another great opportunity to get if children get involved and show part of the responsibility for early childhood and to help wash his lunch box and have it ready for the next day.
