Find about the great war between Ohio and Michigan. No one was injured. It is rumored that a dead chicken. The war lasted a few weeks. One day, men from Ohio who firing their weapons. The next day the men of Michigan, would do the same. This went on and on. The results of this war was that Michigan has the peninsula above, while Ohio has a strip of land that is now Toledo. Who has the best price? It was now Ohio. Later, the tables changed.
The state capital in Lansing was built on a budget and there was under it (mirabile dictu). The building is constructed of native woods, especially pine and stone and bricks. Everything else is painted to give the illusion of marble, walnut and other precious building materials. The floor of the rotunda is glass, opaque but strong. Because the Chicago fire, there were two results. The building had to be fireproof, or almost. The tender for the architectural designs have expanded, as many were burned by fire. Apparently, they did a good job. The building still stands and some of the paint is original construction.
What is a trip to Lansing without going to the MSU (Michigan State University), which is just down the street a couple of miles in East Lansing. Drive around the campus, very beautiful. There are several museums on campus. It seems that every university has its own collection of artifacts, which are put on the screen.
